LGBTQ Concerns
Working with the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer community is my specialty.
Sometimes the world may not be as open and accepting, or even safe, as you might hope if you identify as LGBTQ. Unfortunately, sometimes medial and mental health providers are also uninformed or mis- or under-educated about your needs and you may have even been met with insensitivity when seeking care. My goal is for you to find a safe haven in my office where you can speak and express yourself freely, and be yourself. You will be seen as a person, not just a sexual orientation or gender identity. Hopefully you will find refuge from any parts of the outside world where you may have negative experiences or feel limited in being who you truly are. Depending on where you are in your identity development or formation, and what your therapeutic needs are, we can focus as much or as little on your identity as LGBTQ as you would like.
Some common concerns include:
- Questioning Issues
- Coming Out Issues
- Family/Community Rejection, Cultural or Religious Conflict
- Relationship Concerns
- Sexual Concerns
- Family Planning, Co-Parenting, Blended Family Concerns
- Transitioning Concerns
Whether the reason you are seeking therapy is a specific concern related to being LGBTQ or if you just want to have a place where you know you will be accepted, we can work together to address your concerns in a place that is safe for you
